The Train to Elsewhere

Train to Elsewhere artwork by Anna Moochoon

A journey through memory, philosophy, imagination, and home

The Train to Elsewhere began with many different journeys: memories of waiting for the train that brought my grandmother to visit us, growing up in Georgia as the Soviet Union dissolved, moving between countries, and watching Norwegian forests, mountains, and fjords pass outside a train window.

It also grew from reading. Books became trains of their own, carrying me through history, mythology, philosophy, and imagined worlds long before I crossed borders myself.

The book brings those journeys together. It is not about escaping the world. It is about memory and imagination traveling beside us, and the ways we continue looking for meaning as places, ideas, and versions of home change.
